Pre-Treatment Instructions
Discontinue Aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, fish oils, vitamin E, ginkgo, or ginseng 1 week prior to treatment, or as soon as you receive these instructions.
Do not drink alcohol 48 hours before or after treatment.
Pick up arnica quick dissolving tablets in white box and bromelain 1000mg (barring a pineapple allergy) tablets from Sprouts. Both of these supplements help reduce bruising and swelling.
Take 2 arnica tablets and 1 bromelain 3x a day starting 2 days prior to treatment. You will continue these for 4-5 days post treatment.
If you have made an appointment with me to get your lips done and you have a history of cold sores, please notify me as I will need to call in a prescription for you.
It is strongly recommended you schedule fillers no sooner than 14-21 days prior to any major events/pictures etc. Despite my best ability & preventative supplements, bruising and swelling will most likely occur. You need time to heal before revealing your new fabulous look
Juvederm Aftercare
Immediately after the treatment there may be slight redness, swelling, tenderness and an itching sensation in the treated area. This is a normal result of the injection. The symptoms are temporary and generally reduce in a day or two. If the symptoms continue or if other reactions occur (increased swelling, pain, redness, warmth), please contact me immediately: 602-228-7024.
The first 24-48 hours you will experience the most swelling and discomfort. Do not be alarmed, this is normal. The initial swelling after lip treatments may last longer than two days. Some patients experience swelling for about a week and the lips can look somewhat uneven during this time. This means that the result directly after the treatment should not be seen as the final result. If your swelling does not decrease, or if it increases please contact me immediately: 602-228-7024
Any lumps or bumps that form during the healing process are normal and to be expected, wait ONE WEEK before massaging any lumps. After ONE WEEK you may massage the area with a FIRM pressure for 5 min 2-3 times a day. If after TWO weeks lumps have not smoothed out please contact me for a follow up appointment: 602-228-7024. Neglecting to do so may result in granuloma’s that will need to be dissolved with another injection or have them surgically removed.
Avoid touching the treated area following the injection, if you must do so wash your hands before touching. Avoid applying ANY makeup or chapstick etc to the injected area until the next day. Doing so may introduce bacteria and increases the risk of an infection.
Do not expose the treated area to intense heat (i.e.: sunbathing, tanning bed, hot tub etc.) or extreme cold for 4-5 days following treatment. Doing so will increase swelling and bruising.
If you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another eruption of cold sores. If you have declined the offer of a prescription, please notify me immediately if you feel a break out so a prescription can be called in for you: 602-228-7024
If you are using aspirin, ibuprofen or any similar medication, be aware that these may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site. Avoid these for the first 24 hours post treatment (unless prescribed by your doctor). You may take Tylenol for discomfort in the first 24 hours.
Please avoid alcohol and exercise for 12 hours following the injection. These may also increase bleeding and bruising risk.
4, 3, 2…..Gently apply ice to the treated area for 10 minutes 4 times on Day One. 3 times on Day Two, 2 times on Day Three. You may ice more, but these are the minimums required. Apply lightly, do not use too much pressure.
If taking Arnica &/or Bromelain, continue for 4-5 more days.
Finally, Juvederm gradually dissolves. The correction is not permanent. Many people choose to be treated again within 6-8 months of the original treatment.

Botox Aftercare
DO:
- Remain upright for 4 hours after injection
- Call immediately if you have any questions or experience any problems such as severe pain, numbness, difficulty swallowing or increased redness: 602-228-7024
- Schedule your follow up appointment prior to leaving
- In the case of an emergency please seek medical attention or call 911
DO NOT:
- DO NOT exercise or lie down for 4 hours. No massage, chiropractor, facials, facial waxing etc. This may put you at risk for ptosis.
- DO NOT massage or manipulate injection sites for 48 hours after injection. This may put you at risk for ptosis
- DO NOT take ibuprofen, aspirin or vitamin E for 24 hours after injection as these may increase your bruising risk. You may take Tylenol if you experience a headache.
*** Full effect takes 10-14 days after injections. You may begin to see a reduction in movement 3-4 days after injections. You may contact New You Medical Spa no later than 3 weeks post injection for any touch ups at a reduced cost. By signing below you acknowledge understanding that any touch ups after 3 weeks will be made at full cost to you
